April 2025: Atlantis Coffee

When did you start and what gave you the idea to start? 

We launched in 2022 with a vision for sustainability. Our mission is to not only provide great coffee but also contribute to the health of marine life habitats with every order placed. The name Atlantis reflects this commitment to ocean preservation.

What makes you unique?

We use a “pay what you feel” model -- anything our customers pay above the minimum goes towards charities that help the environment. Currently, we’re partnering with  Verdn, a company that contributes to restoring coral reef systems in the Maldives and improving the habitats of tiny reef fish.

What is your roasting process?

We specialize in two coffees — espresso and filter. By narrowing our focus, we can prioritize sustainability, with all profits going to support reef fish habitat restoration. The minimum price we set covers our production costs, and every additional cent is dedicated to ocean clean-up initiatives.

What challenges do you think the industry are facing that coffee drinkers ought to know more about?

Climate change is a major threat to the coffee industry. Unpredictable weather patterns and rising temperatures are reducing both the yield and quality of coffee. Additionally, fair pay for coffee farmers is an ongoing issue, and many aren’t compensated enough to sustain their livelihoods. That's why we emphasize transparency and fair pricing, ensuring that our customers understand that anything above the minimum price helps fund charitable causes like cleaning our oceans.
